Q1
New thing that I learnt from pronunciation's class is that one word has a lot of ways to pronounce. For example, "g" has many ways to pronounce. "gold", "generally", "beige" and "gila" are all different pronounciations. In addition, some different words have a same pronunciation. For example, "share", "social", "suger", "ratio", "assure", "machine" have a same pronunciation. I am very interested in this, so I want to learn more about pronunciation. I learnt other things, but I forgot them. I have to learn a lot of things, because I will come back Japan on December. However, in this week the school was off on Tuesday, and I did not go to the school on Thursday. Therefore, new thing that I learnt is all.

Q2
I noticed that HELP program is very hard for me both in mental and physical. I like all of my friends and teachers in HELP, because they are all nice people. However, I am too self-centered, so I want to do what I like and I do not want to do what I do not like. In addition, I cannot help talking with somebodies. Therefore, I feel that lectures are so boring. In addition, I soon get weary of everything. My goals are to improve TOEFL score and to become able to speak English fruently. I just want to do about these things. I know I am bad, but this is me.

Q3

First, I read the reading from the beginning to the end once without stoping for general understanding. Second, I look for all the signal words before sorting them out and decide the pattern of the text. Third, I understand what is mentioned. Finally, I read it thoroughly.

 

Q4

 

Q1 I learned some differences of pronounciation in my pronounce class. For example, "hat" is a little different from "hut" and "hot". I cannot pronounce English words correctly, so this class is very difficult for me. However, it is so useful. I want to become able to pronounce correctly.

Q2 I learned that Halloween is a so big event in Hawaii. I went to houses near my house with my host brothers to get some candies. It was so fun. Although I am 19, many people gave me candies. When I lived in Japan, I didn't know about Halloween. Therefore, Halloween in Hawaii is a great experience for me.

Q3 I don't have strategies. I just read my favorite books. I don't read books which I am not interested in.

Q4 Nothing.

Q1
I learned that singing is a good practice for speaking. I want to speak English fluently. It is so fun and not hard. I often listen to English songs, so it fits me perfectly. I will try to sing as I listen to music. That is why, if you see my singing, you shouldn't care.

Q2
Yesterday I stayed overnight in my friend Naoki's house. Because of Tsunami warning I couldn't come back my home. I was scared to Tsunami, because I have been to Iwate which was dameged by Tsunami. However, Naoki's host father said that in Hawaii Tsunami warning is issued once a year, so I was relieved. Anyway, nothing happened and it was good.

Q3
I think language learning is easier than other types of learning, because there are many opportunities to use learning languages. In addition, learning llanguages is so useful and we can have our own goals. They motivate us.

Q4
I think learning strategies are important, but we should learn languages in our own ways. We should not depend on learning strategies. For example, if we do that, TOEFL score is good, but speaking is bad. We should learn not only in our desks but also from an everyday occurrence.
